Upcoming Meetings

from http://www.happybonsai.com/difference-landscape-bonsai-water-and-land-bonsai/

(SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

AUGUST – This is an opportunity for our club to get some basic necessary supplies for our toolboxes, learn the recipes of making these products, and do it at a very low cost for all of us. We’re doing superthrive (goes a long way). This is used to grow and strengthen tree and roots. Tree wound paint for treating wounds after severe pruning. Lime-sulfur used to brush onto jins (deadwood), in order to produce a distinctive white color by bleaching the wood. Only the tree wound dressing needs more than (at most) a baby food jar’s capacity. Even for that, an 8 ounce jar will be sufficient. Travel size bottles or pill bottles are probably a good size to bring. Also, organization meeting for board and members to discuss future topics, classes, and trips.

SEPTEMBER + OCTOBER – Miniature Landscapes. We will make a Florida Landscape as a club and small individual landscapes on slabs/tras/rocks. Also, field trip and beginners class during these months.

NOVEMBER – Multi-Club Auction

DECEMBER – Christmas Party and election of officers for 2012.

July Club Meeting – Location Change

Home & Mattress Revolution USA
2010 EAST BUSCH BLVD.
TAMPA

SPECIAL THANKS to Jacqueline Conley for allowing us to use her place!

SAT. JULY 16th, 10AM at above location

BUY, SWAP, SELL, GIVE AWAY, SHOW OFF, ASK FOR HELP *

We’re asking everyone to bring trees, plant material, and related stuff (old books, etc.) that you’re not too attached to and also current projects to show other members what you are working on. Steve has a tray of trees he needs help to separate and clean up.  Dave will have a few small plants to give away.  The more of us involved, the better!

June Meeting

Michael Feduccia

Michael Feduccia will be our speaker this month (Sat., June 18th) and will be leading a Bring Your Own Tropical / Sub-Tropical Tree Workshop.  So bring in that ficus, raintree or whatever tree that has gotten unmanageable, you are not sure what to do with or just want help with.  Michael will also be demonstrating and selling at the convention this weekend.
http://www.feducciasbonsai.com/

Also a special thanks to Chris, Edgar, Palmer, Mark, Robert and Vicki for helping with the Club display this past Sunday.
Any ideas for our July/August meetings?   I’m thinking maybe meet up at a cool restaurant and discuss a topic (irrigation? Plant pathology?….)

Dave

P.S.  Following the meeting we will strategize and develop a detailed plan to fix the watering system which will probably be done at a later date.

No Spies Please

Hello Potential Subscribers,

We’ve been getting a lot of fake subscribers to our blog, so if you’re a real person who is interested in bonsai, please submit a comment.  I will then be notified that there’s a comment for review and I’ll approve you post haste!  Otherwise, I’ll have to assume that you’re just trying to advertise your Viagra website and delete your account during my periodic housecleaning fits.  Sorry…some people ruin it for everyone else, I know…

Thanks,

Esther, Hukyu Blog Administrator
